Beneath The Whispering Pines
A poem by Chris Hibbard
For Mary Jane
June 15, 2015
The time stands still
Wind falls away
And life slows to a crawl
Where two lives end
Two more begin
Together you and I
Between those whispering pines
The night stars twinkle
Moon rises high
And night slips cross the world
Where two hearts once beat
Two more keep time
Together you and I
Beneath the whispering pines
The sun stops crawling
Across the opalescent sky
And daytime is just a word
Where four hands once hung
Two are now intertwined
Together you and I
Beneath these whispering pines…
Beneath our whispering pines
