A daily poem #25 – June 9, 2009

A poem
by Emily Dickinson

I’m Nobody! Who Are You?

I’m nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there’s a pair of us – don’t tell!
They’d banish us, you know!

How dreary to be somebody!
How public like a frog
To tell one’s name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!

  1. Lol, I love this one! A very interesting point of view. But I mean, if the frog never told its name to the bog, then all the other frogs and creatures of interest (what non-food creatures interest frogs?) would never know anything about it, and then it wouldn’t have any friends or a mate, and it would never have any influence on the present and future of boggy society… Oh, wait, I think I’m blathering again. Well, you get my point.
