Break the Monotony

A poem

Break the Monotony

Break the Monotony

I drank a cup of tea at six
Reached the office at eight
Where everything seemed to be fixed
Smoked a cigarette at eleven
Chatted up a coworker at one
Checked messages at two
Then went for a walk down the hall
Left work at five as usual
Cooked my dinner at seven
Watched some TV at nine
Dozed off on the couch at eleven
None of this bothered me
This is how life ticked by
Months passing unnoticed
Everyday another yesterday waiting to happen
Until today
When you woke me up with my cup of tea
