Three Blind Men

A poem
by Chris Hibbard

Three Blind Men

Once upon a time
There were a group of old wise men
Who gathered to debate
Whether a cow could foretell the future

They were so busy arguing with one another
That they failed to notice
The cow floating
Six inches above the ground

The were so engaged in discourse
That they didn’t hear
The songs that children the world over
Sang in praise of the cow
Of the prayers that women made to it

They were so busy debating still
That they failed to notice
The hundreds
Then thousands
Then millions of people
Who gathered to watch in wonder
As the cow floated up
To claim the heavens
